ACTION Workshops visited the wonderful In-Between group at Mieli Without Borders in Espoo. ☀️

Sometimes it’s the really simple things that speak volumes…literally. We take a simple piece of text, get each member of the group to perform it and we play with:

PITCH

VOLUME

PACE

This is just one of the many acting exercises we use to explore vocal technique when presenting.

An observation...

When presenting people often come across mental blocks and it transpires that many of us are afraid to use our voice to its full capacity.

Much of this comes down to confidence but there are also other factors which can have a huge impact (culture, upbringing, society, environment etc).

When we start digging deeper it’s interesting to learn that in any given group there are always a handful who have been told to 'speak quietly' or 'be less loud'.

Sometimes these criticisms can get lodged in our psyche and mean that we dim down our confidence to match the criticism.

Remember... that learning to harness your voice as your instrument (without limiting beliefs) is a powerful tool to help portray confidence and capability.

When you are connected and present vocally and physically then the things you say automatically become much more engaging.

Thanks for having us Mieli Without Borders, we loved the session.
